Shanghai OnStar Optimizes Application Performance With Compuware (February 07, 2012)

SINGAPORE, Feb. 7, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR), the technology performance company, today announced Shanghai OnStar has successfully implemented the Compuware Gomez® platform to optimize the performance and availability of its business-critical applications and improve service delivery.

Shanghai OnStar Telematics Co. Ltd is a joint venture incorporated by General Motors (GM) Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) and Shanghai GM that provides a range of in-vehicle safety, security and communication services. This is the first OnStar information service institution outside of North America, delivering key innovative services to the Chinese market. With the successful introduction of OnStar's services in 2009, the number of subscribers has grown exponentially. Additionally, Shanghai OnStar has launched new services while improving existing ones to keep up with increasing demand.

The high demand of OnStar services has taxed the applications infrastructure in the organization, and there was an imperative need to ensure optimized application performance, allowing operations to run reliably at all times. After an in-depth evaluation process, it became evident that the Gomez® platform fulfilled Shanghai OnStar's functional requirements for application performance management (APM). With a unified view of application performance across the entire application delivery chain, Gomez provides Shanghai OnStar with accurate and consistent data that's essential for informed decision making.

"Shanghai OnStar has high expectations on the stability and reliability of our infrastructure," said Michael Maizland, CIO, Shanghai OnStar Telematics Co. Ltd. "With the Gomez platform as the backbone for operations and performance management support, we are able to deliver real-time monitoring on performance, allow our team to accurately identify and diagnose problems, ensuring the reliability of our service delivery."

"Shanghai OnStar continues to be on the forefront in delivering innovative, one-of-a-kind service to their customers," said Steve Jobson, Vice President of Compuware Asia. "Their APM strategy is critically related to the business revenue. We are glad that Compuware is able to provide Shanghai OnStar with the necessary tools and knowledge to improve application service monitoring, optimize application operations and deliver measurable business benefits."

The Gomez platform is the industry's leading solution for optimizing the performance of web, non-web, mobile, streaming and cloud applications. Driven by end-user experience, Gomez provides a unified view across the entire application delivery chain, from a user's browser or mobile device, across the Internet or a corporate WAN, in the cloud, to inside the data center, eliminating blind spots from the First Mile to the Last Mile.
